I have planned to do a huge post on Pop Surrealism as it is just such a massive part of my life. Last year was the year I decided that I was going to start my art collection, and I followed through. I want to wait till I get my hands on my boyfriends DSLR before I take shoddy photos of my beautiful pieces to show you all.
I know very little about art myself, possibly more than the average person, but not as some sort of authority, and I don't really like talking about something that I cannot talk about with absolute conviction. However, I love digital art and pop surrealism, low brow and things like the above very much. I also enjoy Man Ray, both pictures and photographs, Gustav Klimt, and Magritte an awful lot. So I will be doing a large post on one of my favourite artists, and the pieces I adore, mainly: Tara Mcpherson, whom I have been very fortunate to purchase some of her art, Stuntkid, the don of Pop Surrealism himself - Mark Ryden plus a load of other choice favourites.
Above is something I found on tumblr, called "Ocean of Love" by someone named chalermphol harnchakkham. Luckily we live in an age where I can purchase a print of this piece, have it turned into an iPhone cover, or macbook case or even have it on a stretched canvas, which I will most certainly be doing with this piece. It will be going in my bedroom along with a print of Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" to fit in with my theme of couples in a world of their own. Without sounding like a gushy idiot, being in a long distance relationship, whenever me and my boyfriend spend time together, we sort of go into our own little world and try and cram as much physical and mental togetherness as we can. Not even sexual (lulz) just want to experience the knowing that the person is close by, that other couples get every single day and probably take for granted. I think this picture and "The Kiss" depict how I feel about this very well.
