I Fought The Floor and the Floor Won

So on Thursday, a managed to fall over my self UP stairs and broke my right hand scaphoid (wrist) bone like a twat.  Luckily I am left handed and this plaster is only on for two weeks as this injury tends to heal quickly. I have a special kind of cast called a scaphoid cast which renders my thumb useless, and puts it in a gripping motion, that reminded my boyfriend of a playmobile persons hand.  It is also really weighty so I will have a massive pale arm when it comes out.  After these two weeks the lovely fracture clinic will review if i need a lovely multicoloured fibreglass one to wear for 6 weeks or hopefully, a fancy wrist brace!  Despite the pain I have been able to type one handed, learn how to use my mouse in my left hand, go out and get sympathy drinks and getting spoiled by my boyfriend.

Not being able to get the thing wet, and having some sort of birds nest at the back of my head since Thursday night I had to visit and pay £18.50 for a wash and blow dry for my matted hair, on Saturday. I shall now just use dry shampoo for two weeks (mmm lush) but I did also manage to wrangle my nails being done as well, so not all bad.  I have listed the pros, cons and new skills i have acquired since I got my lego hand.

Cons

• Can't drive the bat mobile
• Can't have a proper bath
• Can't wash my hair
• Can't have a proper cuddle as my boyfriend put it "its like another mans child from a previous marriage, you love it but its always in the way, always just... there"
• Will be on for my birthday on Friday and my boyfriend birthday the following Tuesday
• Can't type 70 words a minute
• Can't open things like fanta
• Everything takes twice as long and twice as much effort and thus becoming twice as tired

Pros

• Loads of sympathy from friends, randoms in the pub, and boyfriend
• People get stuff for you like drinks, and the remote and cushions
• People carry stuff for you and you don't have to have a handbag
• People write witty things on your cast
• You feel a bit special
• People get you booze and other presents
• Sympathy sex 

New Skills Acquired

• Getting out the bath one handed in a swift elegant move (lol no)
• Using the mouse in my left hand 
• Typing still faster than your average Joe with one hand
• New sexual moves which have proven to be winners
• Holding an extra 12 stone on one arm making it a super arm
• Doing makeup one handed and owning liquid eyeliner with one hand
